86 MENTALITY- s/t Simply, "Intro/Life Trap' is the best punk and hardcore song of the decade and could possibly be on a top 50 list of best hardcore songs of all time. This is definitely one of the best 7"s of the 00's, not to mention one of the best bands. I'm not going to give you a introduction of the band cause if you don't know by now then you are probably a fucking idiot. Nothing this band did was bad. I have this written down somewhere in my room that the biggest regret of my life was not going to their last show in DC, i don't even wanna think about it, fuck. TERROR BOYS.













NO JUSTICE- Still Fighting
No Justice are from Washington, DC and shared members with 86 Mentality and The Aftermath. I'm currently looking at the 'info' sticker on my 7" and the reviewer said 'Best band to come from the DC area since Minor Threat.' Pretty insane to say that but it definitely lives up to it. It sounds young and angry as fuck. They didnt reinvent any type of sound, they played fast hardcore with a touch of youth crew. This is one band that i would do anything to see them live or just play again. All i have is a last show video on youtube to jerk off to and think how fucking unreal that show must have been. If every show/band tried to imitate that video, there would be no wrong in the world. In a nut shell, this 7" is just young and pissed, i wish another release from them existed.














AMERICAN NIGHTMARE- s/t
There is no doubt that this band shaped what was to come in the 00's hardcore wise. 7 songs of fast, very well written hardcore with lyrics about depression, girls, failure and hardcore, who couldn't latch on to that? Take away the hype, the inflated merch prices on eBay and you're looking at one of the best hardcore bands ever. Hundreds of bands have tried to pull of this sound but can never really get it. Thats it.





































FUCKED UP- Police/Generation/Litany
Fucked Up are with out a doubt one of the best punk bands ever. Weather or not you choose to still recognize anything they did after Hidden World is good is your own call, but you can't deny the early stuff. The early 7"s and singles are without a doubt the best material they have done. The 'Police' 7", well its two songs about what everyone in punk/hardcore hates. Songs about hating the pigs and the system, not to mention 'Police' is just a fucking awesome punk rock song/anthem. Everything down to the layout of this 7" is just spot on/
'Generation' The song starts out with a sample of what i was told is taking from a Terrorist chant of some sort...then the drums come in, fuck. This is one of those songs where its not safe for me to be driving while listening to it cause I'm either car moshing or wanting to run my car into the next person. When i saw them over the summer in Chicago 34 hipsters died during their set when they played this song, i kid you not.
'Litany', this 7" has Colur Removal which is one of my favorite Fucked Up songs, that's all i really got hahah.
Honorable mention: Fucked Up/Haymaker split 7".

DIVORCE MONEY- Demo Tape

First off, i thought bands were sliding into a slump of unimaginative and awful band names...
Divorce Money is a awesome band name, but that's the least of what matters right now.
Okay, so i first heard of this band from seeing their tape on the Youth Attack store but never got to hear them cause it was sold out for awhile. I was going to impulse by the tape just because like i said, the band name rules. The band posted they had like 5 left and i was able to cop one before the YA! nerds bought second copies for themselves. Something about this rubs me the right way. Its noisy and chaotic but not in a 'this is fucking bullshit, turn it off' kinda way, does that make sense, i don't know. The music is pretty straight forward 'chaotic' punk rock with whinny drawn out screamy vocals. Most bands like this i probably wouldn't give a shit to see live, but for some reason listening to this makes me really want to see them. I must point out that the second side of this tape is bullshit and you should probably just avoid it, but since the sides aren't labeled, it's the side with the one drawn out bull shit song. I wish the lyrics came with this, i can only imagine what they are like.













MATURE SITUATIONS- Cracked Pelvis EP

Another impulse buy that turned out semi well. Mature Situations are from Toronto, Canada, a fucking hot spot for awesome punk bands right now. Mature Situations features Chris Colohan of Left For Dead and Cursed fame on drums. The songs are pretty generic and the lyrics aren't much different. The first song is called 'Fuck The Kids' im sure you can guess what the song is about. Sounds like Blitz. But like a friend once said, if its not Blitz i'll get my Blitz fix through Criminal Damage. Download it.

GIVE- s/t

I saw GIVE twice over the summer and each time it was fucking awesome. They played the 1511 in the summer with Mindset and it was fucking wild. The used the strobe light the whole time and i kept glancing over and seeing Aaron Miller grooving his body. Saw them the day after in Chicago and it was even better. Band features members of Lion Of Judah which should tell you a little of how its going to sound. GIVE plays a very groovy 80's hardcore style. Lots of spacy guitar work and singy type vocals. I saw somewhere that they were going to release something on Dischord...? I'm not sure if that is true or not but if so thats pretty awesome. There is absolutely no reason for you to download this release, just buy it, its well worth it. You can order it from Moonflower Records/straight from them (link below). When i received my copy of the LP in the mail it had a giant flower cut out taped to the mailer which i thought was cool, i dig it when bands take time to do small shit like that. Also inside the record was a personalized letter thanking me for purchasing the record and Josh of GIVE asking if i was at the Indianapolis show and reflecting on how wild it was, very cool. Shit like that is cool.

MANIPULATION- Demo Tape

Manipulation are from Chicago and if i am not mistaken features members of Chronic Seizure? I think that's right. Straight forward punk/hardcore. I really like the vocal patterns, one song reminds me of a Never Healed song, weird i guess. I don't know. Fucking buy it or download it. You can probably find one if you go to a show in Chicago, i see them everywhere.

FAN DEATH- Demo Tape

Fan Death is from Houston, Texas. This is NOT what i thought this was going to sound like when i bought it. I figured this would be some 'weird noisy shit' by just looking at the art. This is fast, grindy sometimes moshy punk. Kinda just sounds like some kids wanted to play fast hardcore and it came out being a grind band. It's alright i guess. Vomax would probably really like this.
